You might have guessed from all the autumnal colours, but I actually visited Blair Atholl back in October. I've been so busy writing about California that all the other small trips I've taken have been neglected on the blog! Blair Atholl is a castle in Scotland close to Pitlochry, with a huge estate. The last big stop on my American road trip was, of course, San Francisco. If you hadn't noticed already, 70s style is kinda my thing, so I was dying to visit the home of hippies. By the time we reached San Francisco my compulsion to photograph everything had died down a little (can you believe it) so I have slightly fewer snaps from this part of the trip. After two nights in our little cabin at Big Sur, James and I sped up north through California to Yosemite National Park. When I think of America I think of camping in the woods and boy scouts and sequoia trees. Yosemite has all of those vibes. Think Homeward Bound and Stand By Me and Moonrise Kingdom. After Salvation Mountain, the next (and most gruelling) leg of our US road trip took us to Santa Barbara. I can't remember how long we drove for, but I remember arriving at 9pm, in the dark.
