February has been a busy month. It started off in a strange way because I was at home with my parents to keep them company whilst my dad had an operation. It went well and he should be fine – thank you to those who sent your good wishes! At the same time things got super busy at work. I was expecting to be able to work whilst away but it just didn’t happen. I don’t know about you but I find hospitals exhausting. The strip lighting and decor is so eerie and clinical, and being surrounded by people who are plugged into machines makes me feel squeamish. My mum and I came home every day and collapsed on the sofa in front of Making a Murder. Did you catch it on Netflix? I recommend persevering through the slow paced first couple of episodes because it is seriously addictive. As a result, I didn’t feel particularly rested when returning back to Edinburgh, although it was worth it to spend that time with my Mum and Dad. I’m glad that things at work have become a little quieter again!
This month I had two weekends full of exploring the city with visitors. My friend Amy paid me a visit and so did my blog buddy Bel. I love having guests – it’s a great excuse to be a tourist in my own city! I find I’m very popular now I have a flat in Edinburgh city centre, I wonder why… I’ve adventured around new parts of Holyrood park, eaten a lot of curries and vegan junk food (courtesy of Auld Hoose, Paradise Palms, Kalpna and the Mosque Kitchen) and whiled away the evenings in my favourite craft beer pub, Ushers.
I’m still enjoying working part time and I feel lucky that I have an interesting and fulfilling job that allows me to do this! The idea is to spend my free days working on Shop Jessthetics although it’s easy to fill up the time with social engagements without realising it. I did another vintage fair this month, which didn’t go as well as I was hoping. It was unfortunately (for me) the hottest day of the year so far, so everyone was outside enjoying the sunshine. I’m determined to keep refining my set up until I get it right.
I’m currently headed down to London to begin another busy month of travelling around the country and hosting friends at my home! I’m so excited about the warmer weather and lighter evenings although I know we’ve got a long way to go until it’s really spring. How did February treat you?
