We had a mini heatwave last week (seriously, it was like 22 degrees!) and so I decided to make the most of it and take a day off to go to the beach. My new (to me) DSLR also just arrived so my friend Emilie and I took our cameras with us for a photo day. I feel like the last blogger in the universe to invest in a DSLR but it feels so good and I love it so much! I’m yet to get to grip with the settings but I’m sure I’ll get there with practice.
We took a short train from Edinburgh to North Berwick, which is supposed to be one of the nicest beach towns within an easy distance of the city. It was beautiful! It’s a pretty typical British seaside town. It reminded me a lot of the beach towns I visited when I lived in Yorkshire, although there was a dissappointing lack of arcades and tacky sweet shops. We arrived at 10.15, which meant I got up earlier than I like to and I was sleepy, so Emilie and I laid down our towels for a nap in the sunshine when we arrived. When we woke up the clouds had blown over and the fog had descended. Typical! We slept through all the sunshine! I had to change out of my shorts and into my emergency trousers because I was cold. At least I’ve got 2 hours of wear out of them this summer so far.
After our morning beach nap we spent the rest of day walking along the beach and pottering in the little tourist shops, stopping for a big box of chips for lunch and fruit lollies for snacks. The man in the chip shop asked me if I left my horse outside – I guess I was dressed like a cowgirl!
Even a cloudy day is a good day near the sea! I especially love the photo of the bright doors!
Thank you! And I totally agree, the beach is good whatever the weather
