The Fairy Pools on The Isle of Skye.
A pretty view from one of the gardens James and I sat in for a snack break during my trip to London.
I’m sorry for being a whole 8 days late with this monthly review post… oops! My dissertation and new job (and attempting to be sociable in the moments in between) have been keeping me very busy this month which I think is a good thing. All that “free time” that I imagined I would have whilst writing my dissertation seems to have been poured straight into my part time job.
It’s been an eventful month for me! I just love my new job. I’m coordinating volunteers to collect and redistribute edible food waste from businesses, and it’s awesome to be involved in a community like that. I find out about so much cool stuff going on in Edinburgh from the volunteers and it feels wonderful to be working at something that I really believe in. I travelled to the Isle of Skye at the beginning of May and my parents came to visit me the weekend I got back which was lovely. I also got to spend a beautiful long weekend with James in London and with my family in Wales for my Grandpas 85th birthday party!
I might promise myself that this is the last blog post in which I complain about the weather, but seriously, it is so windy here! It is significantly less summery than when I lived in York and we haven’t really had a day where it’s comfortably warm enough to eat outside since April. I bought a new hat in London and as soon as I got off the train in Edinburgh I realised it was a bad idea because it blew straight off my head! I’ve been really craving some proper summer weather so I can spend more time outside. I noticed for the first time when I was staying with my parents just how green and leafy it is in England compared to the Scottish countryside which is beautiful and dramatic but very barren. I miss English summers with riverside picnics and festivals and drinking in the park and countryside walks and long nights in the pub garden. I’m actually wearing two jumpers right now because I refuse to turn on the heating in June.
This month I’ve blogged about my stay in Northern Ireland and my magical trip to the Isle of Skye. I shared a post in which I wear some new (to me) vintage finds, prance around in my sequin trousers and my favourite outfit so far this year… my 70s uniform! I also showed you how I put together my new gallery wall.
For June most of my plans revolve around planning events in my new job and doing research for my dissertation. It should be fun though, and hopefully I’ll also fit in lots of outings and lying in the park drinking beer. How was your month?
My May was good too! It started off with a trip to Ocean City, MD with some entrepreneurs and came back all pumped up to be more productive. Though I wasn’t posting as actively on my blog. This month I’m going to Las Vegas! Going to come back with some pretty pictures! Looking forward to reading about yours.
That sounds awesome, and so busy! It’s always nice to be inspired by meeting other people. Have fun in Vegas!
What a great post sweetie, It sounds like you had a great month!

You do manage to pack a lot into your life, Jess! It’s good you’re finding time for your family, and Archie, along with the hard work!
