Both the coat and the dress that I am wearing in these photos belonged to my Grandma. I’ve written about this before, but I inherited much of her wardrobe when she passed away and on most days I will be wearing something of hers. I love vintage clothes at the best of times, but wearing family vintage is extra special. I recently found some clothes of my mums from the 70s which I have been wearing, and all of the linens and table cloths in my flats have been passed down through my family or made by family members generations ago. I feel extra connected to family members past and present when I use and wear things of theirs! This coat really is gorgeous. It is heavy and flowy and hand-made from butter soft suede. My Grandma had the best taste and I think she would be pleased that I wear her clothes so often!
These photos were taken a couple of months ago (oops, they have been sitting on my computer for a while) in Princes Street gardens before the Christmas Market was set up. This spot is now covered with mulled Drambuie stands and an ice rink! It was a grey day – as usual – but James and I enjoyed walking through the park, exploring the Carlton Cemetery and struggling to take these photos with lots of tourists walking past. I hope you are busy relaxing post-Christmas and indulging in lots of Christmas leftovers and festive tv !
