Christmas day is the best! This year I wore a vintage 80s sparkly blouse, a skirt and jacket that I made and velvetine lipstick by Lime Crime in “Wicked” that Santa very kindly left in my Santa sack
. In the morning Oscar and I opened our presents from Santa (yes he does still visit children in their 20s…), had a leisurely breakfast, cuddled Archie and we all opened a present from under the tree. We had snacks for lunch, including crackers with a mushroom pate that I made, and some vegan cheese and homemade chutney. Swapping some of our traditional Christmas food for vegan treats this year has been fun, and not as difficult as expected!
After lunch we went for a short walk around the village, and headed home for a late lunch, or “linner” as my mum likes to call it. For the past couple of years we’ve eaten Christmas dinner at 4 rather than at lunch time. It’s quite nice to eat when it’s dark (it feels more festive!) and eating later means that we can spend the morning opening presents and hanging out, rather than preparing food. I ate too much this year and had to have a lie down, ha! It’s not Christmas without some over indulgence. After dinner we opened the rest of our prezzies. The evening was, of course, spent in front of the telly with Christmas cake and truffles. We watched Miracle on 34th Street, one of my all-time favourite Christmas films. I had such a lovely day. I’ve been spoilt with books (mostly recipe and craft books..) beautiful (and practical) things for my flat, makeup and a new pair of winter boots. I can’t believe that I will be back in Edinburgh on Tuesday! My time at home is flying by. Did you have a nice Christmas? Have you written about it? I’d love to hear what you got up to
