I meant to post about these pumpkins before halloween, but this week I’ve been spending all my evenings making halloween decorations and cakes, so I haven’t had much time for blogging! I had some friends over for halloween yesterday and I had a lot of fun spookifying my flat. Even though halloween is over, these pumpkins would still make some pretty cute autumn themed decorations. I usually like my decorations to be reusable, but you can make these into soup when you’re done which is just as good!
For the stripy pumpkin I literally just painted some black stripes onto the pumpkin. Very simple and effective! I painted free hand, but if you wanted your stripes to be neat you could stick strips of tape onto the pumpkin and paint in-between the tape.
For the glittery pumpkins, I painted glue onto alternating sections of pumpkin and then shook on some glitter! It’s handy to do this in a tub because at the end you can tip the left over glitter back into the jar. I did one silver and one gold pumpkin, but I think orange glitter would also look really cute.
You might have noticed that there are also some carved oranges in these photos. They make adorable little spooky candle holders. They look like small pumpkins but they’re much easier to carve. I sliced the top off like I would with a pumpkin, used my hands to pull out the insides and then carved some faces into them!I hope you’re having a wonderful halloween weekend. Do you have any plans? I really don’t want to take my halloween decorations down today. I might leave them up for a week or two!
