When Speedy Stamps offered to send me a custom stamp to try out, I was so excited! I’ve been working on making my Shop Jessthetics packaging more fun and personal. I love it when I buy things from online shops and a lot of love has gone into the packaging, so that’s what I’m trying to emulate. I’m so grateful for my customers and I want them to know that without using too many freebies or excessive packaging. I bought some colourful patterned washi tape for wrapping parcels and I picked up these cute foam animal stickers on eBay. I also use recycled tissue paper to wrap up items and I send them in recycled packaging. Brown jiffy bags aren’t very exciting, but until I can find second hand rainbow coloured bags it will have to do! I think having branded packaging makes a shop look so much more professional and using a custom stamp for parcels is a really cheap way of achieving that!
To order my stamp I needed an image or logo to use. My usual logo has a patterned background so I quickly created a cleaner image in Photoshop that I could use for the stamp. I used the font that I use for all Shop Jessthetics images (Lucida handwriting, if you’re interested!) and added the paisley clip art either side. If you’re using an image make sure it’s free of copyright – clickr.com is a great site for royalty free clip art. Once you have your image, you can order your stamp from Speedy Stamps here. If you order before noon, they dispatch the same day which is pretty awesome when you’re having something made especially for you! I also received a black ink pad to use with my stamp.
The stamp printed really clearly on flat paper. As you can see above, the image wasn’t as sharp when I stamped onto tissue paper because the paper’s kind of wrinkly. I don’t mind though, I think the imperfect images are nice and they fit with my shop’s handmade aesthetic. If you are stamping onto parcels or tissue paper I reccommend doing it before you put anything inside them, it’s much easier! Do you sell anything online? If so, what do you do to make your packaging look extra special?
Oh wow, that stamp looks so good. I am allllways a fan of cute packaging. It makes you feel like the person put a lot of thought into and really cares about your custom

Lovely stamp, Jess! Thanks for telling us how you came up with the design, too.

What a nice way to personalize your packaging! I have to admit, I don’t do much along these lines with mine . . . maybe I should work harder on this.
This is such a great idea.
That is so lovely! Packaging is the first impression customers get, so it’s always nice to make a little more effort with it. I’ve just checked out your shop too, you have so many lovely items, everything is definitely my taste too, if I was loaded I’d buy the whole shop haha xx
