When I’m not in the library I spend a lot of time working from my desk in my flat. I’m much more productive in the library but after dinner I like to blog or do my reading from the comfort of my living room. When WeWork got in touch about their “Show us your dream space” project I thought this would be a great opportunity to show you this little corner of my flat, even though it’s not finished! Wework provides workspaces for small businesses or individuals which is pretty cool, and you can see their locations here. When I was working on my Etsy shop last year, I definitely would have appreciated a space like that so I wasn’t working alone for so much of my time! I got my desk from a second hand furniture shop in Edinburgh, it used to be a hotel desk! I decided to put it in front of my window because I like to make the most of the small amount of natural light that comes into the house during the day. It’s so much nicer working in natural light. The strip lights in the library can be depressing. My chair is from an antique shop just down the road. I really struggle to work on chairs that don’t support my back properly, so I thought I would need to buy an office chair, but this one has been surprisingly comfortable so far! My lamp is from Argos and the fabric calender’s are something I made last year. There are halloween friends dotted all over my flat at the moment, and my desk area is no exception. I’m using the cupcake book to bake something for halloween. There are too many recipes, I can’t decide!

Here are a couple of inspiring images of window-based workspaces. I really need a set of drawers under my desk to store uni work and the packaging supplies for my shop. Not having a car means I can’t go to Ikea, and I haven’t had the time recently to browse second hand shops, even though it’s one of my favourite activities! The only downside of working in front of a window is there’s no obvious place to stick art and inspiring images. I’ll have to find some room on a different wall! High on my wish list for this desk is more plants, candles and art.
I hope you enjoyed this small workspace tour! Hopefully over this year I will finish my room and the rest of the sitting room and blog about those too
