Over the years I’ve been trying to alter my shopping habits so that I buy more from companies whose ethics and practices I believe in. I heard somewhere that you should think of every pound you spend as a vote. When you buy things, you are using your money to vote for the state of affairs that that company contributes towards with the way they conduct their business. Flimsymoon is a new independent lingerie brand made in the UK and run by designer Freyia Lilian. Flimsymoon also supports the charity 28 Too Many, which fights to end FGM. This is exactly the sort of brand that is worth supporting! Plus, the lingerie is beautiful and whimsical. Freyia is currently trying to crowdfund her first collection through Kickstarter. If you haven’t heard of Kickstarter before, it’s a pretty cool way to raise money for a project. Your money is only taken if enough people pledge and depending on how much you chose to donate you’ll receive a gift. The necklace, eye mask and earplugs in these photos are all available gifts on the Flimsymoon Kickstarter page!
The Flimsymoon aesthetic is very delicate and dreamy, so I’ve been trying to capture these aspects with my experimental backlit photos. What do you think? There are lots of other lovely pieces in the collection besides the ones in these photos. My favourite has to be the sequin collar, but the willow print knickers are also lovely! Most of my underwear is practical rather than beautiful, but I have a real appreciation for luxury lingerie. Nothing makes me feel fancier than wearing silky pants!
